If you’d like somebody who WILL TURN UP. . .do not utilize VIKING!
I am sorry to write such a lengthy review, I normally try to keep it shorter, however, there’s so much to inform!!
The good:
They showed up throughout the times they stated they’d (well, only barely)
The last sum I paid was less than what I gave me and the cost was quite fair.
The movers that picked up and dropped off my belongings were quite favorable and proceeded fast.
They booked me in the last moment.
The bad:
Since the purchase price of the transfer is based on fat, I were advised by their own secretary, celebrity, which when the movers arrived, they’d load and burden my things, and then I might find a copy of the weigh slip. When the movers arrived, they said that was not their process, but that I would find an email with my burden. I predicted and e-mailed many times requesting the weight…two weeks later after several explanations (our method is down, it isn’t our typical procedure to inform you that the weight before the truck arrives to provide, the weigh slide needs to have gotten lost) I got the weight through telephone. However, I NEVER watched a weigh slip even on shipping!!! The sole reason I agreed to cover was since I had been contracted to cover 80 percent of this quotation so even when they were lying on the burden (which I am fairly certain they had been ) I needed to cover the 80 percent so I did so.
Per the contract, I paid 50 percent of the estimated cost on pickup. I needed to email and call a few times to receive a receipt for this money payment, however I did eventually get it. I paid the rest upon birth and I’ve asked for a receipt for this and still have not received it (it has been 4 days since they fell off my things ).
My stuff had been picked up in the end of June and I said the first day I can get it was July 5th. They state they will send within 10 business days (from July 5th) and you’d think because they operate 7 days per week, daily will count as a business day, however it does not so my stuff was not delivered until July 17th. I sent an email asking why the evenings do not count as business days, also Steve keeps telling me he’s occupied and will react to my email (I sent nearly a week ago) but I haven’t got a reply yet.
Additionally Eric called me on a Saturday stating that he had been intending to have a truck outside to deliver my things”early to mid afternoon”. I told him that the best times for delivery could be married, thrus, fri, or sat and he stated that should not be a issue. I know that things change, but he must have phoned me to tell me. So by Thursday I hadn’t heard from him so that I needed to phone him and he explained the truck could be there by”the end of the day Sunday”. It certainly was the conclusion of the afternoon, they came at 9pm on Sunday night, and after obtaining their semi truck stuck in our driveway, were there till 11 pm.
Each time I would like to speak to them about a issue, they’d cut me off mid sentence. I therefore asked to just correspond through email, not just to prevent the frustration of speaking to them about the telephone, but also to get things in writing because I started to realize exactly what they told me verbally was not exactly what they were likely to perform. As soon as I asked for the shipping date & time to be emailed to mepersonally, they nevertheless insisted on calling me and said that it was normal procedure to receive a verbal confirmation from me. . .really? Why would composed confirmation not be OK? I never got an solution to this either.
1 thing that they hauled for me was my bike that was offered to them entirely undamaged. They shot off my front wheel for transportation, which I would not have a issue with, but they were likely to simply leave it like this and I needed to ask them to place it forth. I didn’t see them perform it, but somehow they place the handlebars back on sideways when placing the front wheel on.
I’d also asked that the 1 thing they’re extra cautious with was that our kitchen table, which was the 1 thing (that I have discovered up to now, I have not finished unpacking yet) which has been ruined!!
The last straw for me was that the voice email I received from them now. I’d emailed Eric two distinct occasions asking when they recognized American Express charge cards (he never reacted to these e-mails) along with the driver who fell off my things processed my payment using the American state card. Then I got a call this morning saying that they don’t accept American state and that they’d charged another card I’d given them without even asking me! This is a debit card so what if I hadn’t had adequate capital?!! The payment was already processed through my lender and thankfully I had enough cash, but badly?
I truly believe this organization is unprofessional and unethical. If I hadn’t insisted on getting things in writing, I believe they’d have attempted to scam me about the purchase price.
I only finished my transfer with Viking Moving and Storage Inc on Aug 19 2011. This is an amazing firm. I have soooo many quotations before I decided on a plumber. Most had small exemptions like an additional $75 for each 75 ft, $75 for each 8 staircase, etc.. I understood with the majority of these firms they’d discover a way to tack on extra fees by the time that my stuff had been delivered. I also had been confused about the entire cubic foot thing, which really leaves you in their mercy. My mover/driver was Chuck. He had been great about calling me beforehand to allow me to know when he’d arrive, and I was always able to reach him both before and during my movement. He was a fantastic man, who I could inform really cared for MY stuff. Viking Moving and Storage Inc gave me a binding quote based on 25000 pounds, which comprised EVERYTHING such as a complete package, automobile transportation, and also unpack. Nothing additional for shrinkwrap, or take stairs, etc.. I orginally estimated I’d have 250 boxes. I was incorrect. I probably ended up getting much more like 330. Chuck thought I would go within my weight quote, which had me worried I’d wind up owing over the opposite end of my movement. Imagine my surprise when he phoned me and said I did move over my weight by like 2800 pounds, but it wouldn’t cost me additional!!! I compensated the binding quote cost. You do not place a lot up front as with other businesses, only $250 to hold your place to reserve your transfer. You then cover half at pickup along with the balance at delivery. I shall recommend this company to anyone and everyone I know that’s shifting, and that I will most likely use them again for any future movements. Ensure that you ask for Chuck. He’s fantastic!
What a great moving experience. I have moved all around the planet (literally) and if this is likely the shortest distance transfer I have done (Texas into LA), it had been the simplest – rather than due to the space. Urban Moving & Storage worked hard for the organization and got every cent of it. The movers were considerate and careful with my possessions, did small extras for me only because, and proceeded fast throughout my property. They ensured delivery for me in LA in approximately 17 months, and also got there before schedule. The even moved a lot of things from 1 area to another once I changed my thoughts on where I needed things. Not just one thing broke in my own kitchen package that’s pretty impressive (I’ve got a great deal of delicate eyeglasses ).
Again great men, excellent company, amazing business. I would recommend them 100 percent
My experience with this business wasn’t great in any way. I’d quotes for more economical moves if they called and said they can do it cheaper, around 1200. I consented of course. The quotation came out to get much more, but at a pinch to proceed again I consented. The movement was to not exceed 2250 according to the quotation nevertheless I ended up paying of 3300. They then said 10 days to provide the furniture, this isn’t great for anyone, how can you remove work for it? . Yes its 10 Mon-Fri days. The dispatcher that I can not recall the title was quite impolite. After the furniture came it had been ruined and things lost, tons of items broken inside nicely packed boxes. . You’re able to inform that the boxes have been thrown around and tilted over, particularly if we unpacked them. They also tried to give me someone elses stuff. I am certain they were angry if they did not receive their stuff.
Over all experience will be that I won’t ever use them again.
This Co transferred me in July of 2011. I had been told I’d get VIP direct transfer service but they saved my things, not so bad in itself but by doing this they ruined two of my classic seats and broke a third one. They also dropped four! Of my paintings and stole my coin set right out of my living space. There was other theft and breakage of minor things too. As reimbursement for this particular horror story (once I complained to this BB) they provided $250 asserting I must have purchased additional private insurance. Theft in the house and intentional damage isn’t an insurance policy problem but I reduced my entire claim of $2k to $583 however they refused to cover. The unworthy BB maintained a – evaluation and decided my claim as solved which it is not. Don’t proceed with this shyster Co!
I have been waiting to write this review before my claim was accepted, which required 4 months and lots of phone calls. While the loading and unloading crew did a fantastic job, in between my pickup destination and location, another team unloaded and reloaded those products. MANY objects were broken (>20), for instance, outer glass of an $800 cooker that has been just a month or two old. The direct responsible for unloading told me they’d”take care” of me and took”full responsibility” for the damages, however since I did not buy the”additional” insurance, they just would pay $0.60/pounds. So, for approximately $400-500 value of compensation, I purchased just $134. This will not take into consideration the lost usage of these things, time and attempt to repurchase/repair, and persuading them to send me my meager check. I transferred myself across the nation, spent a small percent of the quantity and needed ZERO damages. I totally intend to maneuver myself again instead of a moving firm. My stuff was postponed for months, but it had been inside their decent”window” so no big deal for them. This was particularly frustrating when I heard the truck was close by, there simply was not a team available. Additionally, another pet peeve is the way the stock is conducted. I understand most moving firms rush this, but it really bugs me. They amount every box, however do not write down what’s inside. Then, the touch pad requires one to take responsibility like every product was completely inventoried. Calling everything”box” and slapping a few on it’s insufficient. All in all, the cost for Viking was lowest, but their handling has been extremely poor. You get exactly what you pay for. It is a toss-up if I should have compensated for the extra insurance, but I think that it’s ridiculous that they would not require more responsibility for gross neglect of managing my posessions. They maintained citing the dangers of transport, but I understand exactly what occurred: a few low-paid men were in a rush to unload and reload the vehicle. Because I was not there to track them and they would not get a hint, they did not care. Finally, nobody there cared and all I had was a half-hearted apology along with a portion of that which I lost. I am moving myself next time.
I utilized Viking to move from the Bay area to Los Angeles a month. The entire process was fairly easy from begin to finish. My sales man Richard was quite comprehensive and upfront about all of the expenses connected with my movement. He gave me a good, not to exceed cost, which was precisely what I paid. The caliber of the job was great also, the staff that the sent was courteous and professional. They wrapped up all of my furniture with blankets and shrink wrap, and my things came in LA nicely in their time period of 10 business days. I’d certainly recommend their services to anybody searching for a hard working, professional staff to aid with their relocation.
To start with the 3 man team for loading was a two man team and that I ended up needing to help them myself. Hence it took a lot longer to load than it must have as was sated from the movers themselves a range of occasions. Then naturally the damages and also lost/stolen products. This firm has revealed nothing but overall Disregard for ruined, lost/or stolen things, for damages agents failed into the house. Boxes marked brittle CRUSHED in the base of the pile, pricey coffee and end table place all bits ruined one broadly. Brand-new bed, destroyed by straps cutting through padding into the metal under and quite a few different items and then of course the items which never arrived. Like a costly hand bath, (handy they could utilize that in their company ) in addition to boxes of toilet and kitchen items. Disregard to their contract saying 6-8 months for claims compensation. Its been considerably longer than that more than 3 weeks now and they are still not going to respond. I call two weekly or more about solicitors information and record each phone, and they Won’t respond, There’s Absolutely No way to reach anybody but she and sending only says that she will pass across the message AGAIN!! I’ve badly damaged things, stolen or lost things and door frames ruined by the movement in team. I delivered the mandatory photographs 29 of these to be precise and still no reply to many many calls and emails. This business is a rip off and that I think if you dismiss your contracts mentioned claims procedure that’s fraud after all of its partof the contract along with the confidence folks are paying for. ALL IN ALL THE WORST MOVING COMPANY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! AND THEY STILL Won’t REPSOND TO MY CLAIMS!
Spoke with Robin, around my transfer out of san francisco to hand springs, and he also gave me a fair quote, two months after the designated time and day of transfer, movers showed up in time. Movers wrapped all furniture packed up the truck with all 40 enormous boxes and furniture in two hours that the house was totally burnt and cleaned up. Robin the salesman predicted after to follow up on the progress of the transfer. The following day at Palm Springs, furniture and most of belongings were sent on given time of shipping, together with the furniture into specified locations in the home. Within two hours the new home was to help. Each of the movers were very professional and courteous. No merchandise got ruined nor missing. The sum quoted was exactly what I paid off, no Additional charges. Can use them again in the Not Too Distant Future. I strongly urge Viking Movers.
To the clients which are thinking of utilizing Viking Storage and Moving: Urban Moving and Storage is owned and managed by you, Eric Hilson. VM&S has previously operated under the name West Coast Moving and Storage also it was just when their standing with the Better Business Bureau was so tarnished through poor training, and their unwillingness to operate together with the BBB, Department of Transportation, along with the Public Utility Commission, that they became so Viking Moving and Storage. They’re also considering changing their title again, as Viking features an extremely poor reputation ALREADY! Please do not get me wrong, Eric Hilson is an excellent salesman. He’ll assure you that the world, and inform you that since he’s the COO, he will provide. The fact is that he COULD provide, however, surely won’t. The folks that he uses are all great folks. They’re actually interested in assisting their clients with their movements. Unfortunately, when the transfer is reserved, using a credit card deposit of 100, Eric will finally have the top hand. It’ll be just after the transfer starts, or your possessions are picked up, which you’ll be billed 1.5-2X the cost quoted. I have seen it happen over and over again, and he’s continued to function with no consequences. The little fines by the DOT are only a drop in the bucket to him and consequently he does not mind paying them provided that he is permitted to keep on STEALING YOUR MONEY. He’s even charge client’s credit cards, with no knowledge. In the surplus of 500 FOR NO REASON! Please don’t fall prey into Eric’s scam. Save yourself the time and cash. There are lots of options for a moving firm and not all are great, but if you do the appropriate research and assess out the BBB and DOT websites, you may save yourself a excellent hassle. Please note this warning, no matter what Eric informs you. He’ll state that Each One of his disgruntled workers are drug addicts and drunks and That’s why we are so miserable, Once the Truth Is That the single individual Eric cares about is himself and fulfilling HIS pocket. I’ll continue to post every day as YELP blockers the testimonials and I wish to be certain that I can assist as many individuals as you can. You may contact me through YELP in case you’ve got any queries.
