    Long-distance move from Portland, OR
    Dishonest and Rude

    Dishonest and Rude
I hired Smooth Move People to package and move my home things less than two kilometers. The owner, Greg Rivelli, quoted packing/moving labour expenses, subsequently required more than double that”quote” following the transfer. His workers caused over $1,000 of damage to my house, he then blamed me for not supervising his team as they loaded the truck. It had been over 10 months prior to Greg ordered to fix my broken washer and drier.

    The “Estimate.”
When I first contacted Smooth Move Folks, I asked Greg how much moving and packaging would price. He asked me how big my house was and whether it had been supplied reluctantly, moderate or more than ordinary. After answering his questions, Greg explained that the job will require two guys one day to pack, and two guys one day to proceed. He requested me to move all clothing, electronics, art and glass table tops. Before moving day, I transferred those things AND a moderate sized U-Haul truck filled with land. This considerably reduced the job which Greg’s crew needed to perform.
Two guys showed up on packaging afternoon, but stop early if they ran out of boxes. (Greg had promised me that they constantly brought additional boxes to prevent this issue ) The following day, two guys showed up in 1 truck that was totally disabled if the front axle broke. Still another truck came a couple of hours later. One of the guys explained that a third person was coming to assist with the movement, which I wouldn’t be billed because of his time. At 11:30 pm, the guy responsible for the movement explained that they hadn’t stopped moving all of my property. He showed me that a mobile image of my garage filled with things, and explained that it would require another 3 hours to finish the move. (I transferred those things myself at a later date). Afterward, he requested me to cover the Bill of Lading which billed me to get their meal break time and the time spent waiting when their truck broke down. When I objected, he reluctantly reduced the costs by two weeks. More to the point, he explained that Greg often underestimates moving solutions when a client calls, then blames his workers once the client fails.
A couple of weeks after, Greg required that I pay the entire bill PLUS labour for the next person known to help on moving day. Including these requirements, total labor prices for your occupation would have been $2,352. Complete labour charges according to Greg’s”quote” were just $1,160. I afterwards learned what Greg already understood, that a moving quote isn’t binding unless the mover has analyzed the contents of your property.

    Damages
Many things were damaged during the transfer, but my primary issue was getting my dryer and washer mended. (Both components needed expensive control boards). At first, Greg confessed that the appliances were ruined because his guys bombarded the truck. But after, he blamed me for not preventing his guys out of overloading the truck. (I did not understand that was my job). Six days after the transfer, I hand delivered a repair quote for about $842 to Greg and asked him to immediately OK the repairs. He refused. Greg insisted that he could find more affordable parts and also have his aide install them. He was mad and disappointed that I wouldn’t agree to put in the components myself. Greg would just agree to specialist installation if I’d cover all labour costs over $100. It took Greg over 10 weeks to acquire the components and arrange for your repairs. As well as the washer management board isn’t under warrantee due to Greg’s choice to go economical. I needed to continuously email Greg requesting progress reports. His answers were mad and incoherent. Many days, he promised to send the components, then neglected to do so. I whined ODOT, but they weren’t any help in any way.
No, this wasn’t a”smooth movement .” Greg lowballed that the”quote’ Afterward, his team left my home a filthy mess and ruined my property. Finally, I needed to live Greg’s explanations and hysterics for ten months while my washer and drier were broken. I had been overcharged AND needed to cover for damage I did not cause. I really don’t understand how this movement could have been any worse.
