First quote: $5 7,866.10 which comprised 2,237 cubic feet at $3.30 per, and $484.00 in specific packaging for china cupboard and pool table.
Throughout the packaging on the pickup date (8/2/15),”Sean The Mover”, a broker/agent for Meridian (I had been advised previously and have in writing that they allegedly didn’t utilize agents ), estimated that actual cubic footage to transfer my items will be:
1st truck — 3,284 cubic feet
2nd truck — possible another 1,000 cubic feet.
Total charges can vary from $11,000 to $14,000
I was quite mad that the quote of my things might happen to be off with that much. Sean couldn’t know that and blamed me for not getting my own packing done in the right time of this quote (a couple weeks before our transfer ). This was a Sunday so Jackie, our sales rep wasn’t offered. Sean talked to the proprietor at Meridian to clarify I was prepared to back out. We could negotiate a cost of $10,000.00 to match everything possible from the very first truck. I needed to depart from a terrace place, grill, chest freezer and washer and drier.
As soon as I called Jackie relating to this to the following working day she also could not think the quote was off by this much. She clarified that errors do occur and could be captured during the last review of their job. I went to phone or email daily then to inquire whether the pickup truck cubic footage was confirmed. I obtained no answers back. Jackie promised that the proprietor would return to mepersonally, but that never occurred.
Our products were guaranteed to get there within a week. I were advised that 4-5 trucks moved in the northeast to Florida per week throughout the”selling” procedure. We didn’t get our things delivered before 15 days after on 8/17. The proprietor gave me a reduction of $246.00 with this annoyance. I still never got any confirmation regarding the initial pickup truck’s potential.
Upon shipping, I inquired the driver (also an”agent” of Meridian), when he can help me confirm that the cubic footage of my burden. Jackie had stated that this was exemplified from the trucks. The driver responded that this wasn’t possible. I needed to cover him before he would start the truck; again in sterile money orders.
It was not until he introduced me to the truck to confirm that all of my things were outside that I watched that the cubic footage composed to the walls of their truck at 100 cubic footage increments. While he had been inside building furniture, I utilized my own tape measure to confirm what I’d guessed I had been visiting. I took images of this cubic footage shot up from the load staying in the vehicle (950) along with also the total cubic footage of their vehicle (4,100). The motorist had also told me that the following load was delivered the last day from the exact same truck. Mathematically, it’s impossible that my load (3,284), the rest of the burden (950) along with yet another load (500-1,000?) May fit in that vehicle.
I wound up paying a total amount of $9,240 with this movement after obtaining the owner to consent to provide me back $1,000 in cash dictates if this problem was raised in shipping, however, I still believe I have overpaid by over $1,000.
2,384 * 3.30 = $7,867.20
$84 + $400 = 484.00
Late delivery reduction = (246.00)
Number due = 8,105.20
Number paid = 9,240.00
Overpayment = $1,134.80
Other = damaged/missing things $430.00
All of Meridian must do to repay this would be to offer documentation about the true ability of the vehicle that picked up my own burden. I cannot feel that this is hopeless. I’ve asked this info countless occasions in writing and on the telephone to both the proprietor of Meridian (Leo) and Jackie.
I give this business an F. When there was a decision lower than that then I’d choose that. We had difficulties after they got my cash as a deposit. I won’t ever suggest them to anybody.
It is such a very long story but funny…. .from the sales woman Susan into the client support Ester into the operations director Leo it’s been horrendous.
They overcharged us and we tried to find charge but they refuse to donate it to us.
Back in Dec. 2015 I interviewed 4 firms and chose them since there was modest overhead along with the sales woman talked a fantastic talk. I had been impressed with all the family setting along with the non technical thought.
Dec. 28th has been our pickup date. The first thing that the moving foreman says we must cover 100.00 for cassette. NO one told me this since I could have gotten cassette from acquaintances or Walmart more economical. So I phoned Susan the sales woman and she attempted to let me visit a shop and find some tape afterward. OK I will depart 3 movers alone in my dwelling. Then she said they did not possess their clamps. Not certain why.
Movers then let’s we must eliminate Each of the garments in the dressers. Again NO just said 1 thing relating to it. I predict Susan again. She says she informs her clients to get this done. If she’d tell me this then why would I have clothing in the dressers??? Not some of those firms I interviewed requested for clothing to be eliminated. Frantically my boyfriend unpacked all of the clothing into 15 boxes. Thank god we’d extras or else they would have charged us to them.
Then we asked the foreman to never charge us for all these 15 however he said he needed to. I attempted to call Susan for a 3rd time and that she said to telephone ester in client services. I called both of these girls 8 times now and abandoned 4 voice mails on to phone me back ASAP and NO one return to me whatsoever if the movers were all there (or possibly another day).
We ended up moving over 1,600.00 from the quote. Then I select a date for those merchandise to depart the warehouse-Dec. 29th. The foreman offers me exactly the dispatch telephone number and tells me to call anytime night or day. He did not cite 1 thing about those being closed as a result of the vacation season.
We leave city Dec. 29th. I called dispatch several times weekly to determine whether our truck abandoned. No response each moment. We crack down on the day of Dec. 31. I am concerned now that my truck can arrive at Florida until we do this I’m calling without a response. We make it into Florida on Jan. 1. I predict dispatch yet again along with a driver happens to reply because he comprehended my amount from the evening before. Frantically I ask him whether he understands if our substance abandoned. He tells me no, we had been shut constantly! He said call again Jan. 4.
Jan 4 I call dispatch and the man tells me it let in 3am. In addition, we telephone ester in client support this day also she can not tell us anything because her computer is still down. We requested for a refund to your 15 clothing boxes. She said shed speak to the performance director and CALL us back Tuesday. Tuesday comes and goes–no telephone from ester. We predict her Wednesday. She says that our truck isn’t departing till Jan. 8. ? No word about the charge for your 15 clothing boxes. Jan. 8 we predict the operations director ourselves and that he had been rude and said he could not assist us since we should have understood that garments needed to be removed. Then he hung up on us.
The truck came. Jan. 11 at noon time. The unloading was smooth and the truck driver and also unpacker were so terrific.
The only great thing about this movement was that the men who did both the wrapping and unwrapping and the truck driver.
Nobody from meridian even phoned us to ensure we got our belongings and inquired if we had been not satisfied.
Initial quote was 4100. Actual price over $10,000. They reduced ball and then inflate price. They do not inform you closing cost until all of your things are already on automobile. After the furniture arrived in NC, the motorist and”helpers” refused to reassemble furniture that was a part of the Price Tag. The driver left the”helpers” with us and said that he was only paying them until noon and we’d have to pay for anything after this. We refused to sign off and newspapers and also the driver left. Moving Company would nor return telephone calls and didn’t repond to the complaint to the BBB. RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
This moving company can be a nightmare! Let us begin with if the vehicle arrives to find out the things in your property, after loading the truck that they supply you with a fee that’s nearly twice of the quotation they provide you. When you ask as to where your truck is? As it had been coming out of New Jersey visiting California, the proprietor is horrible & begins yelling & nations you’re bothering him. Then he hangs up to terminate the phone with no replies. They tell you that they will call using a day that the truck is going to be there and they don’t! You have to continue to phone them to get a day, which they never did. The driver finally predicts,After more than a month of waiting furniture includes lumps, boxes have been crushed & lamps will be shattered! One again, DO NOT employ this business!!! STAY AWAY!!!!
-Proceed by TWO Unique titles…Meridian International Moving, INC. along with Meridian Transferring Corp..
-Real number due was nearly DOUBLE the quote…which they do not inform you till your items are in their truck
-When they reserve you and things will be selected up, Jackie and Leo NEVER get emails or telephone calls. Inform us we’re bothering them if seeking to find a grasp of those.
-Do not pick up or send in own trucks just like they state told me they would
-Employ craigslist movers to help unload
-Are you NOT cautious with things when going, even boxes indicated FRAGILE
-ALL boxes indicated FRAGILE were totally defeated and BROKEN!!!!!
-Don’t reassemble any furniture which they preceding disassembled.
-Don’t check the fake”inventory checklist” that they Try to take on pick-up shipping
THE WORST EXPERIENCE…will not employ a moving company again as a result of this SCAM of a business.
PLEASE BEWARE
My wife and I moved some furniture out of our house in Brooklyn to our little cabin near New Haven. Meridian International Movers assisted us do so in only 3 times and for a reasonable price and we are thankful we discovered them. It was fine to collaborate together. They’re the best men in the biz, I had been amazed by how nicely the move really went and will be phoning them again when there’s another movement in the long run for certain.
Having them as movers for 5 days has been an great choice, particularly because we’ve got 4 children and we needed to go in the 5 bedroom house in Pennsylvania into a major house in Virginia. Because of our movers, then the entire moving went without any difficulties. It had been set on, punctual and completed for a fantastic price. I’ll certainly suggest Meridian International Movers for my buddies and family.
