    Long-distance move from Brooklyn, NY
    Nice Job!

They transferred me from Brooklyn into Philadelphia. Two other firms quoted me to get a truck along with three man team but they did it at the hugest van I have ever seen (it was a little 1 bedroom apt w/ queen size mattress and it readily match only;such as the woman on the phone assured me it would. Men were super fine, I took the train and they beat me to Philly. It was ridiculously hot and that I came from a 3 floor walk-up into another floor and they kept moving until it was completed.

Long-distance move from New York, NY
    Great Movers!

Simple to book, showed up on time, did the work nicely. I transferred my NYC apartment to Brooklyn and it took four hours. Jay was the foreman that he was super fine /

Avoid if you value your time and belongings.

Perhaps you have felt the need to leave a review earlier, but changed my mind with this one after trying to come to some fair settlement with my experience utilizing Man with a Van.

Short version: Crew was scheduled for 12-2pm on a Saturday. Arrived at 5pm. Poorly managed the freight and caused harm to the walls in the destination using a drawn out movement. Repeated attempts to talk on the telephone and through email to come to some settlement met with frustration and bitterness. Card has been billed anyway.

Extended version: Mistakes occur, jobs run overdue, crews become tired. I know and was ready to create certain I did all on my end to ensure this procedure went as smoothly as you can: parking allow to get a busy road on Saturday afternoon and booked freight elevator to the destination. On account of this team showing up at 5pm to get a 12-2pm window, these attempts were moot and a great deal of time has been wasted searching for parking and carrying multiple elevator excursions.

A team of 3 men showed up exhausted in their day. I understand since they were frustrated and made it clear to me instantly that it was not their fault that they were overdue and they were moving out of work in Brooklyn to Jersey to Philly now before needing to return in the close of the evening. I get it and that stinks. I provided water, helped proceed, whatever I could do.

On a first glimpse evaluation, among them estimated that a half hour to the first portion of the job. I had been in a studio designed with 15 boxes along with a queen mattress alongside some furniture that was smaller, nothing over 50lbs. They played tetris within their own truck with no mats or blankets to the furniture along with a complete disregard for boxes tagged brittle. Just 1 man ever proceeded anything at one moment. Yet another took a shit instantly upon birth and that I do not even need to consider the way he cleaned up since there wasn’t any toilet paper or towels out there. And if you are worried about COVID, masks were pulled down to the chin after the first five minutes.

In the destination, the team somehow managed to place a hole in the hallway using a moving cart. The halls are wide and that I still don’t know how that occurred. I have not unpacked completely but am continuing to locate minor harm. Frankly, the worst aspect of the experience wasn’t the moving team. If anything that I felt bad for all these men which were clearly tired and that I tipped them to get the complete time, even despite my difficulty with how much time it took them. The worst aspect of the move was coping with Paul.

Paul’s a busy man. You can tell because he really loves telling you that he is a busy man. After not responding to a online quote entry, I called to schedule my transfer. He put me on hold, inquired who I was, replicated incorrect advice he’d just told me moments before, etc.. If you are wondering why I did not just give up with this provider instantly, it is because I had a very different experience only one year ago. Same freight, different team, occupation was over within one hour. Five-star experience and that I was actually hoping this could be similar. Rather I got Paul.

The whole movement took two hours with a 15 minute travel time. I had been billed $140/hr using a $40 traveling surcharge. Total billed was $320, but forgot to say that there was a $5 million deposit made days before that for some reason was not taken from the last cost after all, therefore $325. This does not include the expense of a parking permit, needing to reschedule cleaners because of the huge delay, and no matter what the price of repairing the house at my new home.

Paul refused to talk on the telephone and wanted me to email him. Never heard back anything to the night of this move. Woke up Monday to locate a charge on my card despite assurances that I would not be billed for the task until we’d spoke. Called back, was advised to”call the cops (?) Or do everything you need to do because I am busy and I simply can not”.

This was only my experience with a particular crew, I did not even catch their titles but they stated they were out of Brooklyn. I am certain the good time of day and that you get makes all of the difference. Unfortunately it feels as if you are stuck with Paul. Avoid if you appreciate your time and possessions.
