We don’t advocate First Responders moving. We had high hopes since they were recommended by colleagues at Trinity University, but we’ve moved 8 times in the previous 8 decades and this was undoubtedly the stupidest encounter.
Our movement was so easy that even the movers commented about how simple we left it for them. Each and every thing was packaged with boxes at the appropriate weight, we had already transferred delicate things to our new home ourselves, and we hardly moved any furniture or massive items. It had been a 4 mile movement, a shorter space with fewer boxes than some of our prior motions.
Mike out of First Responders delivered us a quotation for 5 hours of work. I advised him that we’ve never, ever had a transfer take over 3 hrs, so we would not want 5 hours. Obviously the movers were able to move so slowly and waste so long that they left it into the 5 hour markers! How easy.
The movers were fine young guys, but obviously untrained and unprepared. They did not appear in uniforms or with appropriate gear, back accessories, blankets, anything. One had a tattoo inked the day before on his arm and was complaining that it hurt. We paid over $650 for a ridiculously simple and little movement and we’re NOT happy.
The worst part is that these untrained movers were able to split half of the furniture that they transferred. They broke the framework to our only mattress, so we’ve been sleeping on a mattress on the ground because our movement on October 5. They also struck both bookcases so we still can’t unpack our novels. The movers appeared amazed that they struck these (neither were wrapped, secured from the vehicle, nothing) and kept apologizing. They took photographs and advised us to not worry, their firm might make us all whole.
They did not. What a surprise. Mike back (see review below to learn more about their answer to broken furniture). String of 30+ mails within a month and a half and in the end we all still have a room filled with broken wood furniture that they left behind. Mike and First Responders supplied nothing but the bare minimum — $.60 each pound. $800 worth of furniture busted by untrained and unprofessional movers to get a transfer that cost double what it needs and they provided us $120. Total. $120, that will not even cover one of the bookcases.
We’re outside mad but they appear to believe that is a fair settlement amount for that which they broke. Buyer beware — do not give this business your small business. In the long run you are going to need to replace things regardless of how well you prepare for the transfer and they won’t care in any way.
Look elsewhere for motions in San Antonio.
My inspection is very consistent with various other people I have read contemplating the claim filing procedure.
I used this firm to the 4th time in the end of May since I have always believed that they did a fantastic job. On the other hand, the very first time that I went to use my dryer after the movement, the warmth no longer functioned. I called to ask about the claims procedure and Margo was quite condescending about the simple fact that I was able to believe it had something to do with the movement because”electronics error all of the time.” While I’d normally agree, I think that it’s quite a pity to get a brand new dryer to venture out RIGHT following a transfer. I registered a claim that the very first week in June to the cost of the components it would seem we’d need.
I have never heard back from them so that I reached out into the proprietor, John, around a week and a half afterwards to observe where they had been in the procedure. He had an electrical firm call me to establish a support call. Upon review, the electrician said that it seemed like a cable got snagged from the transfer and that he believed they ought to be accountable (afterwards, John insisted that the electrical company told him that they weren’t accountable ). It was that we did not require the components we purchased, so we returned them as the electrical company said he’d deliver what we wanted. Again, some time went by and I learned nothing in First Responders, therefore I called the plumber paid for the repairs up front because I could no more be with no drier.
More time goes on and that I send John an email in August asking why I have not heard back from them. He inquired for the bill for repairs so that I shipped it on August 12th and again never heard backagain.
I reached him out again in September and the other receptionist insisted he’d return to me by September 6th. Yet again I didn’t listen, so I made the following message two weeks after and emailed him about the 9th. Additionally, I called the office a few times daily to attempt to ascertain when I had been going to listen back. Nobody ever picked up since it would appear they had been fielding my own calls.
He also sent me a very unprofessional email that day accusing me of raping his team among other matters. Funny enough, I predicted only as many occasions over a day a couple of decades ago after I had a movement scheduled along with my movers were a few hours late without a notice. But ironically, wasn’t considered harassment. I presume because he knew he’d be receiving money from me daily. However, if the coin is reversed and I’m asking him to cover for something that he does not need to cover, that’s harassment. Though I never even spoke to anybody. Maybe I would not have to phone a lot if he’d really service his clients.
From the mail, he also proceeded to state that I lacked common feeling of believing they had been at fault because in 5000+ transfers, they had not had some promises about sprays. I figure his movers are completely perfect rather than hurt anything. Though other testimonials reference harm. (Do not misunderstand-the issue is not that something has been ruined. Moving is difficult on matters so that they sometimes get ruined. I only need them to accept responsibility once it occurs )
In addition, he stated that he wouldn’t be paying to get the components we wrongly ordered. Certainly Not. Had he paid some attention to some of those numbers that I referenced in my messages to him, I just quoted the quantity of the repair services.
He never came out and specifically stated in the mail what I had to do to have this taken care of. I ASSUME he desired an updated maintain type but I still don’t know for certain.
The purpose of the story would be to state that they make the promise procedure so difficult, that I have officially given up following over 3 weeks. So, I needed to spend money on the drier myself.
They’re great movers, but only know that if anything go wrong, it’ll be a wonder if you’re able to make them look after it. You also ought to know that you’re donating money to a business whose owner is very rude to his clients and apparently incompetent.
