This is a very dreadful moving firm, that was delegated to my spouse and I through our agent (Budget Van Lines).

A dreadful experience. We contracted with Federal Moving Corp. to transfer household products from DC into Albuquerque. They picked up the furniture one day late (not too bad). Shipping was over a month late – a month of camping outside with furniture, clothing, and kitchen gear. Our shipping window was August 1, 2019 to August 7, 2019. On August 8th, the furniture was still in a warehouse at either New York or Brooklyn (despite repeated requests, they never told us where our furniture has been ).

Communication about if our merchandise would be placed on a vehicle was dreadful. We’d call, then be told they’d call us back if they had checked with the dispatcher (the individual we talked with frequently said”I do not wish to help keep you on hold while I am checking.”) . Regrettably, they’d never call backagain. They had been too busy and didn’t have enough trucks to provide our products in a timely way.

Eventually, they used a subcontractor, who delivered the furniture on September 7 – OVER A MONTH LATE. The subcontractor known as the day prior to delivery to state that unless we paid $950 along with THE CONTRACT PRICE, and paid him at a money order together with the title of the payee left blank, he’d”turn the truck around and accept back your furniture into New York.” At no time needed Federal Moving, or anybody else, advised us that there could be costs over and above the contracted rate. Nor did they give us a justification for the extra expenses. We talked with Manuk Torosyan, an official in Federal Moving Corp, that didn’t have an excuse for the additional costs. Following much debate, he consented to decrease the further costs to $320. We didn’t think we owed this, but compensated since the subcontractor was holding our furniture hostage.

It got worse. On the afternoon of this transfer, the subcontractor required an extra $550 to move the furniture to the apartment. Our contract provided for door to door service which included use of an elevator in the destination and reassembly of furniture which the movers had disassembled in DC. We refused to pay $550 for a ceremony contained in the contract. The subcontractor then unloaded a apartment’s worth of furniture and left it on the curb. We needed to employ another support to move the furniture to the apartment.

I reserved my transfer through a broker (Best Interstate Moving and Storage – plus a poor business, don’t rely on them ) and they hired Federal Moving Corp.. And often times I’d call, they’d say call back in 10 minutes, I’d call back and they’d either immediately hang up on me or never pickup on the telephone. I have attempted to telephone Mitch and I have sent him an email, no reply via email and the line is always busy when I call (maybe they moved out of business? Screening out my calls?) . The point is, stay away.
