I was very amazed by my own encounter with Big Sam movers. I had them go my two bedroom apartment with all the furniture into my new house about ten minutes off. I was quite reluctant in choosing a moving company, but they promised me that unless I had more things than my quote, I would not pay a cent more than they informed me. I was pleased to get all of my things in precisely the identical state that it was in when I packaged them and had no issues. I’d use them again. Thanks Huge Sam.
I Would like to give a Reasonable overview of the Provider. They showed up on time, consented to perform the movement for us on pretty short notice, and packaged up what we’d made up together really well. Nothing got missing and nothing foolish broke.
The dissapointing part was that when”Sam” (not his real name – the other men were calling him Mike but he maintained Sam was his name) came to give us the quote we asked him several times to provide us a complete cost and we even submitted an itemized listing of what we were carrying and that he gave the quote on. We’d heard that many moving firms jack up the cost as They’re putting your stuff to the truck – asserting it was more than you initially made up. We wanted to Prevent this and we asked him in what situation would the cost go up because we wanted to Prevent that. HE TOLD US IT WOULD NOT GO UP provided that we did not add anything important – he even said we should not be concerned about little things here and there it would not influence the purchase price. He’d state the packaging stuff would cost us maximum $150 additional (no other company we’ve ever inquired about fees individually for the cassette…?) .
On the afternoon of the movement – after we reached the halfway stage he began to grumble that matters weren’t on the listing and it had been more than the quote contained. When I showed him that those things were on the record He needed a replica of – that he got all angry and started to Provide some explanation that he did not view it. He had been arguing so much about it, and we did not need to make a fuss into the individual who had been taking our stuff Throughout the country, so we even eliminated the weight bench He was claiming that he did not see even though it was obviously among the. Then it became really unpleasant; he had been contending with us over every small thing and in the end – contended with us for 45 minutes that we needed to pay more because there were more things and that the blankets and tape etc were really going to charge us $250 (if he promised they’d be 100 -$150 maximum ). Finally we paid more money than he’d quoted us. Apart from being really disagreeable for us it had been totally untrue.
To make the experience much worse – our speech had changes in the last minute and the girl at their workplace whom we’d spoken to promised us that it would not matter. We did not have a delivery address for them on the day of the transfer but she explained provided we got the actual address to them shortly They’d start the excursion. When we did phone back a few days after the speech -“Sam” called us back yelling at us that we did not get it them timely enough and we overlooked the truck moving to Nevada and might need to wait at least 2 months for it to go back for our belongings to be shipped. In some ways that’s reasonable but the absence of communication is startling. Why didn’t somebody from the workplace telephone us to state -“we want your address by tomorrow or the truck will depart with no…” Had we known that, We’d have supplied a neighbor’s or friend’s speech or even a storage centre’s address. Rather we moved to our brand new home and had to wait for an extra 2 weeks to our items to get there!
Bottom Line: They lied to us asserting that the quote Wouldn’t alter and made us feel extremely uncomfortable about the afternoon of the movement claiming we added matters as it was quite clearly about the listing we’d supplied. I’d say use this provider as long as you’ve got the cost written down and agreed to before hand – but we tried that and they still raised it!
Horrible experience.
I’d certainly not suggest this to anybody!
They place a hole in our walls, did not fit everything on the truck (therefore we needed to transfer half of their house by ourselves another day) and they have been extremely argumentative
The receptionist/coordinator in the workplace Diane is also a complete lunatic and unorganized
She offered us 88 each hour and then couldn’t recall that and wanted to control us 95. .
I wouldn’t suggest using this firm
I thought perhaps I was being unjust but after reading several other reviews I understand what I am undergoing is that this business is. Rude and unprofessional… it is a scam that they quote the identical price to everybody and then jack it up. And what they do is have among those employees arrive in complaining they then state that they have to re do the cost. They twice my quote and proceeded to whine and be combative the whole job. I’m writing this because they moving out me and they’ve take. 4 hours and that I broke down and had everything ready to just be transferred out. DO NOT USE THEM! I’m reporting them to the Dept of transport because moving is currently a challenging encounter and these men are the worst. Mike told me that he wasn’t reassembling the mattress that I needed to do it then he told me that he wasn’t carrying a TV and also for no reason… That is insanity btw they were suppose to come at 9:30 am told me that I did not affirm which did and arrived in 3:30
I’d hired Large Sam last moment and I was surprised by how beneficial Jason was. He explained everything very clearly and made himself accessible during the whole procedure pickup to delivery. It was really stressful taking a new job and leaving straight away but everything worked out easily and I am absolutely happy about my picking Big Sam.
I’d give this business ZERO stars if I could! My husband picked this business because they offered us almost half of what two additional Jersey City moving firms did. . .that must have been my first hint. Here is the NYC subway, you get exactly what you pay for! We scheduled our relocation to Saturday at 2:00 pm. We understood that we had additional time, so we shifted the date to Monday at 2:00 pm. On Sunday, Diane called to inquire if the movers may return Monday morning rather than at 2:00 pm. We mentioned regrettably not, we’d not be prepared until 2:00 pm on Monday, so that she said okay and retained our timeslot. Well, Monday at 2:00 pm, there are not any movers, in order 2:30 pm my husband phoned and Diane reported that it is not her fault, it is tolerable, and the men are running late, and we are just going to need to wait. Feeling perturbed, I picked up the telephone to phone Diane, and once I inquired if our movers are coming, she informed me”Look, I phoned your husband yesterday to move up the moment, and he said no”, like WE WERE to attribute. I said, “How is this MY fault? I reserved this specific appointment for 2:00 pm, you send me an email verification for 2:00 pm!!” Now, I was lifting my voice from the frustration of taking a day out of work and attempting to handle a tantrum -throwing toddler while the transferring business is blaming ME for THEM NOT SHOWING UP. Reacting to my rage, Diane started yelling,”THEN CANCEL THE JOB CANCEL THE JOB! We’re NOT COMING! I do not need any issues! You call someone else! You and your spouse better not call me again! AND YOU BETTER NOT BAD MOUTH MY NAME”
I backed off. Recognizing that I shouldn’t have raised my voice, I longed for doing this, saying please, all I need is to proceed, I cannot take day another day from work, please just communicate with me regarding if they’re coming. That appeared to smooth things over. Well, at 3:30 pm, my husband called to inquire when the movers are coming, and Diane told him,”They are on their way.” “Good!” Said my husband,”just how far off are they?” Diane responded”They’re in their way”. In 4:05 pm–TWO HOURS PAST OUR APPOINTMENT–my husband called again and talked to a guy who advised him,”You must have patience.” My husband responded,”Well, I have been waiting because 2:00 pm” The guy said,”You have been waiting because 2:00 pm? You are lucky! They’re some men and women who’ve been waiting since dawn!” **Um, what the hell?? ** My husband wrapped up. At 4:30 pm, the guy in the moving company called to say they’re not coming; there is too much rain. **Hmmm, I believed they’d been”in their way” because 3:30 pm?!! ** My husband asked if they can come the following day, and the guy said yes, at 9:00 am. “And what if it is raining?” asked my husband. “Subsequently 12:00 pm,” the guy responded. My husband asked yet another question:”What if it rains all tomorrow as it did now?” The guy responded,”Oh no, then we can not come”.
UNBELIEVABLE. Additionally, in the event that you check google testimonials, which I wish I’d completed!!! –you are going to observe that this provider is notorious for cancelling on clients!!!
