NEVER USE “AMERICAN HOME MOVERS”

I have never needed to write something in this way.  In the previous 25 years I have moved throughout the nation at least 1/2 dozen occasions by MN to KS to Buffalo NY to TX and have not ever had an adventure as awful as using American Home Movers. 

I should have anticipated that if they showed up on July 15th 2012 at a filthy plain white truck telling me that they had over booked so couldn’t bring their”routine” truck.  Throughout this time, they shot all of my things wrapped up them and I thought everything was nice INCLUDING the shipping date of the week of August 6th.  The main reason I make a point of this, (and that I advised the driver as well as the firm this) was that my 72 year old parents and my three young kids are with me for 3 months then (I am divorced) beginning the week of August 13th to the end of the month.

In this time period, the two of my 72 year old parents that my three young kids were in my new residence, August 13th 2012 and slept on Air Mattresses without a my house till August 24th 2012.  Nearly 3 weeks later they first shipping date of the week of August 6th. My family did not require this degree of anxiety and sleeping on air mattresses. My father has had open heart surgeries and a number of stints placed in.  My mom has back problems, my middle kid has had several open heart surgeries (He is only 14) and my youngest wanted my children books and other things for summer school (He’s a learning disability). 

Rather than having everything like I should expect, we slept on Air mattresses. And now my kids are heading back next week.

My suggestion for anyone considering using”American Home Movers”….USE ANYBODY ELSE.  Including only U-Haul.  You’ll be a lot better off.

Jeff advised us that the projected delivery date was August 6, 2012 and the business eventually delivered his possessions on Friday August 24th, nearly 3 months late.  My spouse and I came for a trip from Florida  on Sunday August 12th since Jeff was even having a trip from his three sons to the month of August. His sons had only arrived the day before and till August 24th we slept on air mattresses on the ground, sat on medal folding seats and ate in folding tables. Since he didn’t have some kitchen products, he needed to get pots, pans, coffee maker, etc., and we ate off of plastic plates with plastic forks, spoons, knives and made out of plastic for nearly 3 weeks. My spouse and I tryed to make it as nice as possible for Jeff and his three sons however this entire scenario was simply disgusting.  American Home Movers shouldn’t market themselves as caliber timely movers. We believe that some monetary restitution Ought to Be given to Jeff Bowman with this sorry excuse of a shifting encounter.

Went into the US DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin, also assessed the rest three moving companies. Worst moving adventure of my entire life. There was quite inadequate communication from the group. Four mails and two phone calls and still no reply until I stated I had been submitting with the FMCSA. Subsequently the owner suddenly revealed curiosity. After being guaranteed a 14 day delivery or not, my things didn’t even leave your center for 14 days and then ceased in TX to reload again. That’s nothing but greed. You have to know there are human beings on the opposite side of your trades, whose lives are placed on hold and so are inconvenienced. Zero concern or care.

Please don’t consider this moving business is well worth it! This was really the worst encounter in our own lives. It took 2 weeks prior to the truck even left Nevada, I needed to phone and inquire why our furniture wasn’t here about the requested date that is if they stated it was still there waiting for a different client to fill up there truck. I was billed $600 over that I had been quoted after they came for our moving evening, they understand that its to late for you to employ a different firm by then. When they finally said they’re in path, they told me they made a different stop and could be delayed a couple more days. I needed to call many times talking with the most egregious secretary (Brittany) over and over again before I asked a Manager that she stated has been out of the city for a few months, then I asked to talk to Corporate. She placed somebody on the telephone which was suppose to be the proprietor. Long story short it took 30 days to allow us to receive our furniture once we had been guaranteed it in fourteen days and an additional $600! BEWARE.

According to my experience I won’t suggest American Home Movers or their services to anybody.

Short Story

This firm was always late, overcharged us, lost our things, and then offered us a pittance at remuneration in exchange for that which equated to a gag order in the kind of a liability waiver, clearing them of any wrongdoing and prohibiting us by writing about our expertise anyplace or reporting them into some government/regulatory agency.

Long Story

I contracted the company to transfer us from CA to NC in May of 2017 for an August move. While placing appointments and organizing the transfer, they were quite careful and hauled regularly. This all ceased about the day they were scheduled to arrive.

American Home Movers hadn’t arrived in the scheduled pickup time between 8am to 10am, even though us verifying days before. Dispatch had no idea where the movers were when we called to inquire about it. The dispatcher said she’d call the motorists to learn their place. We needed to phone after an hour of waiting without a upgrade. The dispatcher acted like we never talked and stated the movers would arrive between 5pm and 7pm. Thank you for letting us know. The movers showed up at noon.

The cost was raised by $115.88 about the place for no more definitive reason. We’d even removed things we deemed unnecessary before the deadline. We’d fewer items/cubic feet compared to the minimum cost point, so we’re ready to cover their minimal. But after having already paid our first deposit, it being the day of the transfer, and we advised to leave the next morning, what would we do however cough up the dough?

We filled all ourselves and had everything awaiting the front door to get a quick and effortless job. The movers packed our things on the vehicle in under half an hour. We had been ready to satisfy our things two weeks after our arrival in NC, but that wouldn’t be the situation.

A dispatcher called us since we were driving around the country to say they needed to lose the things on a day sooner than what was scheduled, as it was more convenient for them. Give me a break. Otherwise, we’d have needed to wait to get our products a month after when another motorist may make the trip out to NC. I guess you have got me by the short and curlies. Only come on over if.

The driver showed up a 2 days following the first drop-off time. After all was, we discovered many of those cardboard boxes had came significantly crushed up. Many crumpled like stored under significant weight and other people with big holes/tears from the corners or sides.

Two things specifically went lost, a set of computer screens used in my home workstation. These were packaged in their original box and tagged, but didn’t arrive with all of our other products. Kind of questionable, right? Come to find out they had been about the stock sheet that made the warehouse, that may only indicate they went lost between NV and NC.

When I brought this up with the firm they said these things occur and that it is possible that the box has been dropped off in another individual’s home, as every truck carries several deliveries. What? Thus, call the folks you sent to, to inquire if you left somebody else’s property together! But we must wait until the vehicle is completed with deliveries to make certain it isn’t still in a different customer’s load.

Taking no responsibility:
It took 2 weeks to receive my things from Vegas a on a van and that’s simply because I called regular and they have sick of hearing from me. When I chased the contract that they would not respond and simply did not care.

Poor Planning in their Component Constituted a Emergency on Your Own Section:
I was subsequently provided a 3-day window once the shipping was about to occur and told I’d get 48 hours notice. I made 18 hours detect and once I explained that my apartment couldn’t adapt the movement now because of some other movement, they predicted the flat management straight and badgered them till they gave in.

It’s not even worth my time to make them cover damages on which was busted.

Apparently, this particular group, does not feel pressured to Create America Great, Again.

They stole $30,000 worth of the stuff. Mostly presents from my deceased husband. They provided me $189.00 in settlement. If you would like all of your items flat out stolen proceed together. They picked up my possessions and flat them out.

If I could give this business negative stars I would. After spending more than 3 hours on the telephone with a Senior Relocation Specialist affirming my box count and stock, I was convinced in the $5,400 estimate which I received to transfer both bedroom home in Nashville, TN to Denver, CO.. You can imagine my reaction once the driver shows up on our shifting day and informs me that my quote will have to be raised by $2,000!! My husband and I felt just like that business had us over a barrel and we had been left with no option but to think of the excess cash. And if this is not stressful enough we had to pursue this business for copies of our stock paperwork and also to schedule our shipping date. I had been beginning to wonder whether our possessions had ever made it into the storage center in Las Vegas whatsoever. Many frustrated telephone calls and distinct managers after we received our possessions which consisted of smashed boxes and ruined furniture. Despite everything”professionally wrapped” in blankets we filed 9 claims for harm. Together with the dreadful customer support that we’ve received during this whole procedure I doubt anything will come from our promises, but the least I could perform as a public support will be warn others by sharing our expertise.

Could offer them less than one star if at all possible. Horrible experience. We had them go furniture & private home from LA to Nashville. Upon arrival, you will find 14+ things worth over $ 2,000 forever ruined. We even have a movie of one of the movers literally yanking off boxes the moving truck and fretting about it. We filed a settlement claim using the THEIR claim representative who provided us an exceeding $150. We then filed a little claims court actions against them and the judge awarded us just the 150 because of the nice print ( $.60/lb highest liability – we had no alternative since they advised us total replacement insurance policy wasn’t accessible ) from the contract although he confessed that the harm was plausible and AHM was accountable. They’re dishonest and lucky to have had the tiny claims hearing until the incompetent judge.

My possessions were picked up on April 25th at vegas. I had been told they would be sent to me in seven to 21 business days. It’s June 19th and I have not had up to a telephone call of peace or an apology to the EXTREME delay, even despite my achieving. . Several times.

The team was quite keen to hurry up my pick and have documents signed and deposits paid instantly (phoning me, nagging me every 30 minutes) but have yet to react to an email which I sent for them weeks back today.

Now I’m just praying that my items have not been damaged or stolen.
My furniture is equally precious and my entire life is in these boxes.

I’ve done lots of moving round the nation – the entire world for this issue and that is by far my worst experience. Require your moving needs everywhere. 1 celebrity is overrating by much better.
