Failed to honor guaranteed damage Case
During a movement, Meathead employees seriously ruined a teak library unit using an original price of $16,000. However, I thought”No, worries, I purchased their REPLACEMENT VALUE insurance.” It’s been 66 days today and I still have no resolution. Meathead rep, won’t turn my phone over to a manager. I’ve asked a long time to be offered together with the insurance carrier title and have yet to get it. Below is an abbreviated version of my criticism.
9/26 (Day 1): I contacted Meathead, given that the completed claim form and photographs and has been known for their concierge service to help me locate a spot for repairs. The concierge was a joke. They gave me a listing of 3 locations. #1 was a business that just did company by email–no actual address or contact number. #2 was a furniture upholsterer that did”refinishing across the side.” (Oh sure, I will hand over my stunning upscale library into some man that specializes in upholstery.) The next firm said”we will not conduct business with Meathead Movers.”
I called the rep in Meathead to whine. He said”undergo a bid.” (At this stage I asked an insurance adjuster — that was diminished ). I began researching firms qualified to perform restoration on a luxury part of furniture. What I discovered is that quality businesses bill to come to perform a quote (otherwise they would be wasting their time consuming quotes rather than working.) I phoned Meathead back to inform them this and the man said”my manager said he wants one bid.” Therefore, since they wouldn’t pay to get a bidding, I paid $150 to get a restorer to check out it. The quotation was almost $10,000!
Therefore, after a few weeks that the rep told me that the boss needs 3 bids! After a few weeks, then I get a call from the concierge support with a few businesses to contact. The majority of them didn’t have sites or photographs of work to check at. Largely, they have been a lot of handymen who do minimal work rather than focusing in recovery of fine furniture. I whined about the rep. It took him 10 times but he developed a couple more companies. I eventually managed to acquire another quote without paying them beforehand to come out — that the firm looked fantastic and their bid was considerably less. I routed Meathead the bidding together with the caveat that when the harm is worse than comprehensive on the bidding, there might be a revision. I sent that bidding on them on 11/15.
12/1 (Day 66 using NO RESPONSE): 2 more weeks have passed and I still have no answers. After innumerable email conversations, phone calls and the typical canned answer”I apologize for the delay… I recognize you’re angry… and blah blah blah,” Please notice: This is an abbreviated version that hits the high points just. I have a record that contains 54 email conversations documenting my claim together with numerous telephone calls — all of which have resulted rather than honoring the promise. It is my sense that they aren’t planning to solve this matter or need to wear me down till I give up.
