We compensated Golan $2700 on our transfer from our Winnetka house, $3000 into Golan’s storage and $1800 for them to transfer back us in. They then stiffed us our insurance settlement over $280 in an alleged error by their foreman. What my wife and that I presumed was a professional moving business turned out to be a really unprofessional mover. Be cautious with this particular group.

We’re unable to get a grasp of the right individual and spoke down to for asking straightforward questions and confirming information. Was hung up on two for just asking to confirm my address and also for advice on the go. The motorist also required a cashiers check, to get a cost we hadn’t ever obtained any advice on above, and receiving money was unfeasible within 12 hours, on a Sunday afternoon. Finally a number of matters were broken and a single bit was missing.

The boxes weren’t numbered, there was no proof of what was in every box, things arrived broken and lots of costly things were stolen.

We hired Golan’s to transfer us from Chicago to Sanibel Fl. When they came I was told that they didn’t have my 2000 dining table which I purchased from Crate & Barell. The supervisor, Julie, said that she might possibly get it to us from the end of July, a month and a half later scheduled delivery. I was really hesitate to proceed with Golan’s moving but in the end I Was Really Happy that they move my Home.   We needed a tricky situation between purchasing our house and purchasing a new house in precisely the exact same moment.  Golan’s moving did a fantastic job coordinating the pickup and the delivery and we could not be more happy when we eventually settled in our new residence.  The team was working quickly and quite professional.  These men are hardworking and understand what they are doing and we love their own work and how attentive they load and load our heavy furniture.   We’re Very Happy with Golan’s moving services.

Hi,   if you’re able to endure through this lengthy narrative, I’d love it. I think it’s worth exploring and exposing those crooks….     I utilized Golan’s Moving and Storage to move from Chicago to the suburbs. The transfer took longer than initially mentioned, they did not utilize the tape and packaging stuff I requested them to, they ruined furniture and lamps, and last but not least, THEY STOLE FROM ME!!!    My iPad and printer have been stolen with a number of their illegal employees. I’d overwhelming evidence that it was really among the workers and they stated they weren’t accountable for this iPad. The printer has been returned to me because of what they called a”miscommunication”. I had been advised to submit a police report for the stolen iPad therefore that I did. Bottom line there is that the authorities have better things to do than worry about a stolen iPad, therefore the iPad wasn’t found again.    Seeing the broken lamps and ruined furniture; I had been told to undergo their claims procedure… This was very possibly the very aggrevating portion of the entire ordeal. The claim took more than 4 weeks before I could even get somebody on the telephone to describe what the status was. I have to have created over 25 calls for their”3rd party claim proccessing firm”. The very first time I called I had been given the title of this girl who had been operating on the”claim” and has been advised she wasn’t at the workplace. I thought to myself, okay, she isn’t available now so that I can try again shortly. The messed up part is that the subsequent 24 times I predicted this so called girl was either not at work or unavailable. I had been getting nowhere with this so I decided to try calling the skokie workplace to talk with the branch supervisor. The director in the skokie workplace is a female by the name of Julie Gold. As soon as I attempted to describe the problem to her and stated I needed my money back to the transfer, she just laughed and stated,”that is never gont occur” and then hung me up. I could not even think how disrespectful and unprofessional she had been.    Now I was angry. I began to investigate what legal recourse I’d and naturally that I was not happy with what I had been discovering. At the very most, I could take them to small claims court. In tiny claims court, even if a decision is passed there’s still no gaurantee they’ll cover up. I didn’t have the time or cash to take them to court so that I was made to sit for nearly 6 MONTHS while my”claim” was being”processed”. The whole quantity of the stolen iPad and ruined possessions I totaled up came outside to be well over $1000 (nearly as much as I paid for the transfer itself). But when I eventually got something back in the”CLAIMS PROCESSING CENTER (someplace in New Jersey)” they provided me less than $200 for all of the trouble I’d gone through. Evidently, Golan’s and this”CLAIMS PROCESSING CENTER” are functioning collectively.    My last resort was submitting a claim with the BBB (better business bureau) but it was futile since there’s not any one actually mediating any disputes. It is all automatic.    Here’s THE BOTTOM LINE: IF You Would like to BE LIED TO, HAVE YOUR BELONGINGS DAMAGED AND HAVE THEM STEAL YOUR EXPENSIVE ELECTRONICS AND NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OF IT, THEN USE THIS COMPANY!!! They’re CROOKS AND THIEVES AND ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!! THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. AND I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW NOT TO USE GOLAN’S MOVING AND STORAGE FOR ANY REASON. THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU OR ANY OF YOUR THINGS. They Simply WANT YOUR MONEY!!!!!    I’ll make certain to post this review on other websites so people know of those cowards and frauds. I am sure someone from Golan’s will post a thing under my review stating something to the effect of:”We’re sorry this happened”, or”We’d not do something like that to some client”…. Any effort on their part to attempt to refute anything I have written here or to attempt to make themselves seem better will only be additional evidence of the unprofessionalism, disrespectfulness and evidence they simply don’t care. The simple fact of the matter is, these individuals are only offenders with a company license and sadly, are shielded from the transport industry that’s barely regulated and operates in favor of firms like Golan’s. They ought to be held accountable for their activities but sadly we live in a cynical world that favors big business over the little man.

Our material was delivered yesterday, even sooner than the original program. No products were lost and that which was intact with no single scratch. Both pickup and delivery crews were quite considerate, professional and working.  I must thank you personally and educated about the movement! Never in my entire life have I worked with such a fantastic crew. Oscar and his group were so amazing. They were convinced, type, quick, attentive and individual (because we weren’t always as organized as we all desired ).   All of us gave them a standing ovation at the close of the transfer. IF YOU VALUE YOUR POSSESSIONS OR YOUR PEACE OF MIND, DO NOT USE GOLAN’S.  They transferred our sizeable family from IL to CA in the summer of 2012.  Nearly all of the glass and wood furniture has been badly damaged en route, such as antiques and family heirlooms.  The Golan men who unloaded the van stated that it was too packed with different families’ possessions.  Assessing a claim demanded getting repair quotes, finding receipts, shooting photographs of those damages, etc.,.  We were known to some third party claims chip who dismissed us for months.  After several calls for these, we obtained an offer which has been pathetically insufficient (each of the quotes that Golan’s insisted we get ) to Resolve the 17 items hurt.   In actuality, the sum offered was amazingly near the sum that we had paid for additional”insurance” in our possessions, which was to be only another cost.  Then we had no option except to take the issue to mediation, which required hundreds of more hours of work and a lot more weeks.  In early December, 2013, we eventually received an arbitration award at the utmost quantity which could be granted under the conditions.  It required Golan’s 3 more months to cover us — a total of over 20 weeks as the day we proceeded.   At each stage along the way, Golan’s and its own claim chip delayed(sometimes beyond the time frames permitted by national regulations) and came back up with specious, irrational reasons for neglecting to take our promises.  We’ve not dealt with any service provider that had so little respect for the clients.  Their cost Wasn’t awful, but we’d have paid a Fantastic deal longer to prevent seeing our amazing things destroyed and needing to invest close to 2 decades fighting to maintain our rights.

A formerly contracted unreliable moving firm failed to provide any moving solutions leaving us in the lurch. Having a rental expiration looming we had to obtain another moving company quickly. Fortunately Golan’s Moving and Storage has been able to accomodate us. Golan’s estimator managed to see the house the next morning and offer an extremely exact quote. After scrambling to program a few competing quotes we managed to quickly negotiate a reasonable price and another day pickup from Golan’s. The movers showed up right on time and so were efficent, friendly, and professional. Unloading and delivery moved both easily again efficent and specialist. Golan’s finished our relocation in recording time less than 5 times from first contact with the firm to finished cross country shipping. All products arrived in excellent condition. I match Golan’s in their exceptional support.

Golan’s Moving turned into a tragedy! My spouse and I had to move from CA to MI and , we had been contemplating who to go with. A rep from Golan’s came down to give us a quote, and he looked friendly and accommodating and educated about the way they had been honored from a dumb Angis award which made them the best movers in the country (which does not mean squat, since they rig all of the reviews online also ). . .well we chose to go together. On Friday afternoon, 4 men came to pack up our things and did a fantastic job. 

It was only when they came into MI that things began to go south very quickly. They changed the cost of the entire move a few times and ended up paying an additional $1000!!!!
There were just two individuals unloading our things, and old man and a young man. They had been unloading boxes and did not pay attention to that side was up and all the restricted liquid alternatives seeped on the brand new kitchen flooring and destroyed our baby things. 

However, the biggest upset was when they unloaded my spouse’s brand new piano in the truck. Two men hoisting it of the the truck and down it. They did not utilize a ramp or a dolly, and also the hoisted over two definite actions into the home, which ended up breaking off the 2 petals beneath and  there was divided into the paint and wood furnishing. This was very upsetting to say the very least, my spouse arrived out of Korea when we got married and sent her piano out of Korea without a scrape! FROM KOREA!!! GOLAN’S CAN’T EVEN GET IT RIGHT FROM STATE TO STATE! THAT SAYS ALOT RIGHT ABOUT THEIR SERVICE!!!

To top it off, my wife was pregnant and we did not even get our box spring for our master bedroom mattress!! It did not even get loaded up with all our things, so we needed to wait for OVER TWO MONTHS, in the meanwhile we had been sleeping on the couch!

To prevent problems right, Golan’s menacing tactic would be to direct criticism to another party asserts department that was another complete different hassle we needed to undergo. I feel these men are willing to be rude and mean to you so that you can not receive any reimbursement for those damages. Honestly, they do not care about your belongings, they simply care about getting your money and what happens then, you have ta almost fight for payment.

Looking back in this entire ordeal, we would have much rather moved onto our own. Nobody in Golan’s cares on your own stuff. They aren’t running a company, they’re running a racket, which in the conclusion you purchase BIG TIME! My spouse and  that I suggest nobody should even contemplate them. Find somebody else. FIND Somebody Else!

I cannot be strong enough in advocating you NOT to use this specific provider. The movement was totally traumatic. I’ve transferred a couple times and NEVER had this awful experience. They failed an in-home quote and subsequently got our items about the vehicle, had my husband sign the”binding” contract also called us a week later from the street requiring nearly $2000 since they said they were above the burden they anticipated. Yes, they stored our things hostage. I called to talk with various folks, for example, cokpany proprietor. He yelled at me and informed me when I wished to view my items agin, I’d cover. What’s more, theyv attempted to insist that we cover in CASH so that we could not dispute the fees. Eventually, my spouse said,”Fine. Maintain it! We won’t provide you an extra $2000 in money to receive back our things.” They whined about that but nonetheless demanded that the charge card charge, which I DID challenge. After the crew then arrived, they started to insist again on cash payment prior to unloading the vehicle. I needed to really call the Dekalb County Police Department to receive them to overthrow the vehicle! Definitely from the erroneous and being educated by the authorities which they could not induce us to provide them money for OUR possessions once we hada signed contract suggesting that they had already been paid in total PLUS almost twice, the team men decided they’d unload the truck regardless of their boss’s long tail directions. Afterward , they apologized to people and explained how much they hated working for the organization. The man who had been the assistant (not the driver) was close to tears and maintained swearing (in Spanish) about the way he was planning to stop and would not continue doing this for people.

We contested the fees and also Golan’s happened forever to react. They then delivered a doctored bill to Discover cards. We started to pursue this during the Illinois Attorney General but eventually just gave up–even though the AG’s office was still quite supportive–since it had been such a time sink and we had been going to begin new tasks and spending so much time on this crap. These people DO NOT have to remain in operation.

The precise date of drop-off might be somewhat off as it has been awhile but they have been certainly overdue. My in-laws were all visiting and so apalled that THEY composed letters into both AG and DOT. They even spoke against the drivers in their ethical responsibilitties. That is how bad it had been.
BUYER BEWARE!!!! There are also many respectable businesses on the market to address these crooks!
