Chris’ Moving Men

I contacted Chris’ Moving (A Steven’s Agent) to transfer 18,000 pounds from LA to Las Vegas.  The movement from Chris was very professional and outstanding.  Chris and his folks are terrific.  Regrettably, Stevens is a sleezeball business and they turned what should’ve been an superb experience into a really disagreeable”screwing”.  Like all motions of the size it had been a 3 ring circus throughout the pickup and delivery.  Because of this, they failed to stock a few last minute things, some pieces of furniture were scraped, some were ruined and a 2 boxes along with a shelf were missing.  We did not detect the majority of these things until a couple weeks following the move once we returned from holiday and unpacked everything.  We contacted Chris the afternoon following the move once we found the expresso machine and TV harm and he advised us to wait till we unpacked everything and then file a claim with Steven’s.  It took Steven’s 2 1/2 weeks to adjudicate the claim and they disallowed all things and sent us an insulting test for $75 (I paid them $800 to extract entire replacement value insurance).  We needed to do all of the work to receive bids to fix or replace the products.  The entire cost to repair and replace was roughly $600 (significantly less than what we paid for the insurance).  Their rational was that one of those products was not inventoried by their own people thus they don’t have any proof the product was  touched with them, we did not report the harm or misssing things while the movers were providing the furniture so they don’t have any evidence the harm did not happen after the transfer.  As everybody knows, its hopeless stock 800 boxes, unpack and inspect everything while 6 people are providing boxes all around the house and in a rush to go home.
In lookievenng in other reviews, it’s clear that this can be Steven’s MO..  They blatently have no responsibility for their mistakes, hide behind the necessity to report any exclusions at time of shipping and twist the customer.
Their claim’s section is the worst.  They’re slow to react and only give you lip service.  We paid $8,000 for the transfer along with $800 for insurance to get royally screwed. 
Anyone who utilizes a Steven’s broker is taking a enormous risk that nothing will be broken.
